Balcones Technologies, LLC, was formed in 2007 to develop & demonstrate innovative, highly effective solutions for a variety of mechanical and electrical systems. The principals at BT have over 50 years experience and work closely with academia to move concepts from design to successful prototype.
Over a 30-year career Mr. Hahne's primary focus has been the design, manufacture, and test of prototype high power systems. Before becoming President of BT, he worked as a research engineer at UT-CEM and served as supervisor for their laboratory and machine shop.
Prior to founding BT, Dr. Beno served as principal investigator or co-PI at UT-CEM on over $50M of total research in advanced controls, high performance magnetic bearings, high-speed rotating machines and composite flywheels, and off-road mobility systems.
Over 20 years of experience in the development of advanced electric machines and hybrid vehicle powertrains. Recent research includes linear motor driven compressors and expanders, as well as the development of hydrogen energy systems for mobile and stationary applications.
Over 25 year research in the design of compact, high-speed, power and energy dense rotating machines and composite structural components. His research has included characterization of advanced converters for the Army and 1kV distribution for the Navy using a MW-scale microgrid.
